Never the only one

Do you ever wonder how completely unoriginal you are? From a ripe young age, you have your parents and teachers telling you that you are special, one-of-a-kind. Yet, you scramble to find a name for your Neopets account that isn't taken by some bastard halfway across the globe so you add unecessary numbers and _ and - and even capitalise awKwaRdly, in the process completely diluting the very essence of who you are or what you like. 

Maybe I'm getting a little carried away but seriously, I had to add a fucking "_05" to my Neopets username. It has made me quite bitter, as you can tell.

I only thought about this as I was changing my url. Originally I wanted it to be chameleonsoul because I heard it in Lana Del Rey's video and it really resonated in me but alas, the fact that I got it from a music video isn't exactly very original in itself. Maybe that's why it's already taken. Maybe the problem is that everyone is inspired by the same type of things and no one really churns out their own ideas and we all end up the same. Homogenous. Bland.

Chuck Palahniuk said, "Nothing of me is original. I am a combined effort of everyone I've ever known." 

I guess in our struggle to be different, we all just end up the same.
